Dream Big

The Motto of our school for the last 4 years that I have been teaching there is Dream Big. No idea is to big to bring to the table to be discussed. It has been the most amazing teaching experience ever. I so love that our ideas are listened to and the ones we have that we thought there was no way that administration would go for - guess what - they happened. So, I am in the process of repainting  a huge puppet theater and these are the chairs used with it. I wanted to make our school wide theme come into our classroom so that when parents walk through the door of our school with their 4 year old for the first time - they know this is a school where dreams do matter and they can be proud that their child is a part of that.

To elaborate a little more - one of our Early Childhood dreams was to have parents come into our classrooms and sign their child in and out every day. It would give us face to face contact with parents we would normally not see since we are a Title 1 Community School. We approached our principal with the dream and her response was let me think about it. Half way through the following summer - we find out she really had been thinking about it and had figured out how to get the administration at the district level involved to re-route busses and parent drop off and pick up to make this happen for us. It was amazing this year! We had the best parent communication ever. I feel very lucky to work in a place where I feel validated for my dreams and ideas :)
